#15 - Phone

I'm not creative at all. Sorry :( I'm sad about it myself. I hope I'll be better tomorrow.
Title: Phone
Group/pairing: NewS / Koyama x Shige
Prompt: #18 - Phone
Word Count: 444 (I'm not making this up!)
Rating: PG
Summary: It's a sequel to... something ^^
He reads the display of his phone. ‘End call’.
He pushes the red button, the conversation he just had is cut off.
This is by far the hardest thing he has ever done in his life, the thing that changed everything within a second.
He looks at his phone, it has gone dark, the charm that’s attached to it reflects in the light of his room.
It’s a green stone, on a silver chain with a little bell.
He has had it for years; he had it on every phone since that day in May when he got it.
“It’s for you. Couples have that kind of thing, don’t they?”
Koyama smiles.
He remembers the sun and how they held hands secretly, how they stole kisses from each other when they knew no one was looking.
The bell on the charm had jingled with a high, silvery tone.
He felt safe back then, he felt like they could make it.
“I told you I would hurt you in the end…” Koyama says out aloud.
No one hears him, not even his cat which is curled on the floor in a happy sleep.
It’s his responsibility. He broke up. He ended what didn’t work anymore.
“I can’t look in your eyes anymore without feeling like I’ll just disappoint you. It’s better if we end this… I can’t tell you face to face. Please understand me, please, understand…”
The conversation repeats itself in his head.
He can still hear the sobs, which turned into loud shudders of tears, sounds of pain. It was like hearing the other heart break. That’s how close he feels right now.
“I don’t want you to cry because of me. It’s all my fault. I’m wrong. We’re wrong… this isn’t working anymore.”
Koyama remembers moments of nearness, of intimacy, where they would lie next to each other, where they would hold each other’s hands, and just look the other one in the eyes, for hours, days it seemed. It’s what he’ll miss the most.
Being close. Being them.
But being them didn’t work out.
“Do you still want to be with me?”
Koyama can hear the question inside his head, like a broken record, repeating over and over.
“Why did you ask?” Koyama says.
‘Maybe if you hadn’t asked, maybe we would still be us. We would still be. But I know I’ve been lying to you, faking smiles and faking declarations of love. You deserve better. I know you don’t believe me right now.’
Koyama types on his phone, the bell jingles happily, like it always does.
It takes thirteen breaths to get an answer.
‘I wrote a letter. I’ll send it tomorrow.’.
